Krendale gas lease TERMINATED!

2-7-20
We have amazing and exciting news.  A member of Section 27 Alliance has learned via a public records search that the oil and gas lease for Krendale Golf Course has been TERMINATED! -- by PennEnergy Resources and other parties involved in the lease.  Furthermore, it appears that this termination occurred on April 10, 2019!  My deepest and sincerest apologies for not having learned of and shared this information sooner!

It is my understanding that Butler Twp. has no knowledge of this transaction; otherwise I would have discovered it earlier via my frequent Right-to-Know requests to the township.  Neither Penn Energy nor Krendale would be under any legal obligation to report such a transaction to the township.

So!  It would seem that our worries are over! ... unless the Krendale ownership decides to try and attract another gas and oil company to lease its land...

In the meantime, I am cautiously optimistic about the future, but still feeling vigilant.  I will be monitoring the Butler County Deeds site more closely in the future for any developments re: new leases for unconventional natural gas use, as well as continuing R-t-K requests to the township regarding same.

Many thanks to our "anonymous" team member who unearthed this valuable information!  It takes an alliance...  If you would like to view the lease cancellation document, click on this Butler County Deeds page and type in "Krendale Golf Course."  Then click on the entry "PennEnergy Resources LLC -- Surrender of Lease", currently #5 on the list...

I wish I could say: "That's it!  Mission accomplished!  We can dissolve this alliance now..."  But such are not the times we live in.  There's still money to be made from fracking...  As usual... if there are any future developments regarding Krendale and gas drilling, I will let you know as soon as I know (hopefully sooner next time!).  I plan to alert Butler Township regarding this development, and also the Butler Eagle, for whom Krendale was a "big deal" once upon a time...

In the meantime, please enjoy this victory!  CELEBRATE!!!  Share the news with all you know who care and have been concerned...

“Not My Neighborhood”
Bat Signal

From October 2nd-6th, our friends at Marcellus Outreach Butler conducted a public awareness campaign to bring the issue of residential fracking to the forefront in the Butler area. With the recent PA DEP approval of the Krendale well pad on the Krendale Golf Course in Butler Township, which is surrounded by dense residential and commercial development, MOB felt that the public needed to be reminded about the long-dormant project. So a campaign was devised using what MOB called the “bat signal,” a projector capable of shining an image onto a building.

Once darkness had fallen, an image of crossed-out fracking rig with the words “Not My Neighborhood” was projected onto sites all over the township and city, including the Butler Township Municipal Building sign, a barn on Route 68 near the Krendale site, a hillside on Route 356 next to Point Plaza, the courthouse, the Butler County Government Center, the Butler Eagle, the PNC Bank building on Main Street, the Penn Theater, and the Pullman building on Hansen Avenue.

Several passers-by stopped to inquire about the “bat signal” and what it meant, and once informed, many expressed concern over the Krendale site. In addition to Krendale, another well pad was recently approved near the Knoch schools complex. The bat signal was projected onto the front of Knoch High School, expressing opposition to this treacherous location. More actions from MOB pertaining to this well site are in the works.

"We sure do hope this effort is successful in stopping drilling in residential areas in Butler Township.  Hard to believe that government officials can condone something like this."
